Terms of use

These terms govern your use of Ichnus and the related documentation. They are written in plain language. By using Ichnus you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What these terms cover

  • Use of the Ichnus app and the models it exposes.
  • Use of the Ichnus API.
  • Contributions you make to open projects, which are covered by the relevant project license and the contributor agreement in that repository.

The service

Ichnus is provided free of charge for individual use by Curos, a non-profit organization. Curos offers the service on an as-available basis and may change, pause, or discontinue features, including specific models, with notice where practical. Fair-use limits are part of the service and may be adjusted; current limits are documented on the Rate limits page.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials private and for all activity under your account. You must be old enough to consent to the service in your jurisdiction. Curos may suspend accounts that violate these terms or that appear to be compromised, and will tell you why when it can.

Acceptable use

You may use Ichnus for lawful purposes, including commercial ones that do not resell or redistribute the model service itself. You may not:

  • Use the service to generate content that breaks the law or harms others.
  • Attempt to extract model weights, bypass safety measures, or interfere with the service.
  • Resell or redistribute access to Ichnus, or build a competing service on it.
  • Use the service to generate spam, deceptive content, or content that impersonates others.
  • Circumvent fair-use limits, rate limits, or program service review.

The honesty of outputs

Models can produce plausible-sounding but incorrect content. Curos documents known limitations in its evaluation reports and recommends you verify important output. Curos’s models are not a substitute for licensed professional advice in medicine, law, finance, or similar fields, and the service is not designed for those purposes.

Program services

Organizations using the API beyond the free limits must enter a program service agreement, which is separate from these terms. Program services are billed at cost as described on the Rate limits page, and are subject to the terms of that agreement.

Disclaimers

Ichnus and the models are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Curos does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that outputs will be accurate. Nothing in these terms guarantees the continuity of a free service.

Limitation of liability

Ichnus is a free service operated by a non-profit. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Curos is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including reliance on model output. Where liability cannot be excluded, Curos’s total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the previous twelve months, which is zero for individual free use.

Changes to these terms

Curos will announce material changes 30 days in advance through the app and this documentation. Continued use after the change date counts as acceptance. Minor and clarifying changes take effect immediately.
